Today’s day two of my planned trip to San Diego!

So without further ado, here’s day 2!

Day Trip to San Diego

We started off today in our comfortable Holiday Inn room. While Kevin picked up my sister-in-law from the airport, the parents and I had breakfast and started off our day trip to San Diego at Balboa Park.

Let me tell you something… if you’re at all into nature, architecture, culture, or just taking really pretty photos… you HAVE to check out Balboa Park!

Balboa Park is home to cute little cafes and restaurants (though they’re pretty overpriced, to be fair) but even cuter gardens, fountains. They even have a museum!

We spent quite a few hours here walking around. I could have stayed even longer if I wasn’t so hungry!

We left the park and Kevin and Cindy joined us for dinner at an incredible restaurant that JUST opened less than a month ago!

You ABSOLUTELY have to check out Common Stock.

The host and waiters are great, very playful and witty.

I was absolutely in love with the way they used plant life to soften the industrial looking architecture.

After some witty banter with the waiter, everyone in our party ordered the steak and it was not only delicious but very filling.

I know the portion looks small but trust me, it’ll surprise you how filling the portions are 😉

Next, we were on to Old Town San Diego!

Every time I’m in San Diego I make it a point to stop by Old Town. I just love the spirit of the nightlife there! Everyone always appears to be having so much fun eating dinner or shopping in the cute little stores.

They have a candlemaker, bronzeworker, unique tiles, and all sorts of interesting stuff.

Once we walked around a bit we decided to call it a night; tomorrow will be a long day.

TL;DR

After letting you ladies in on my planning process (both for San Diego hotels and things to do in San Diego), I am really happy to be able to share how the trip actually turned out with you all as well. 🙂

I hope my search for San Diego hotelsnearby attractions, and final trip post series come in handy for you in case you’re planning a trip to the area soon!

I can’t wait to share my San Diego photo diary and the rest of this blog series with you all!
