Day Trip to San Diego

We started off the day up in my Lake Arrowhead home. We packed, had some breakfast and started on the trek to San Diego at about noon.

Thankfully, it was a very smooth drive. We made it from one doorway to the other in two and a half hours!

If you’re planning a similar drive, keep in mind that the drive was manageable only because Lake Arrowhead is far east enough to avoid the downtown LA traffic.

If you end up driving through downtown you’ll end up stuck for countless hours longer!

Anyway…

After checking out potential San Diego hotels, we decided to go with the Holiday Inn, so our first stop in the city was to check in to our room.

After checking in, we were on our way to grab a late lunch.

We found Poke, Etc nearby and even though it wasn’t in the Poke style I was used to, it was flavorful and satisfying.

From there we were on our way to go sightseeing!

We went to the Sunset Cliffs Natural Park and it was such a great experience.

Unlike the Miami and Santa Monica beaches, parking at Sunset Cliffs was easy, free, and right at the sand!

Now, easy parking was definitely not something I’m accustomed to but it was incredibly appreciated. 😉

The beach view was absolutely gorgeous, but it was also nice seeing the beachgoers enjoying themselves and walking with their dogs.

After watching the sunset at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, we grabbed dinner at In & Out and headed back to the hotel to meet up with my brother after his shift ended.

He’s not only having his reenlistment ceremony but he’s also off on deployment. This whole trip is to see him so we were happy to be able to meet up after his shift.

I’m so excited to be able to spend tomorrow with him, our parents, and my new sister-in-law.

It’s going to be a busy few days so we ended up having an early night.
