It can often be difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle as a self-employed blogger. Or any self-employed role, realistically.

But if you don’t make your health and self-care a priority, how else are you going to manage to achieve all your goals gracefully?

You should make sure you’re putting some time aside for self-care regularly, there is no reason you can’t feel good, look good, be fit and healthy, and enjoy your life as well as focusing on a career.

Have a look below at some of the easy ways you can improve your health.

Make Sure You Allow Time For Sleep and Regular Health Checks

We’ve all done it, we’ve stayed up those extra hours to meet a deadline or skipped a trip to the dentist because we feel like our time should be spent doing something else. However, it is highly important that we look after ourselves with enough sleep and with regular health checks. If you don’t understand the importance of this, you should make an effort to learn more.

Another part of self-care for the self-employed – or anyone, really – is to let your body rest! As an adult, it is recommended that we get seven to eight hours of sleep per night. And for healthy sleep hygiene, you should only deviate away from your sleeping routine once in a while. If you sleep less, it can cause increased appetites, anxiety, depression, and other health problems.

It’s also recommended that once per year we take a visit to places such as the dentist and opticians to make sure we are healthy and any problems are nipped in the bud earlier rather than later.

Self-Care for the Self-Employed: eat right

Food is our fuel and therefore we should be focusing on what we intake as a priority. A good source of food and water leads to excellent energy levels and a more focused approach. Just what you need to achieve those ambitious life goals! It’s important to think about nourishment and remember your body requires food and water to survive and thrive.

Try having a look at what energy you require for your body size and shape and then work with that. And remember that if you’re active, you may need more calories than usual. Having healthy foods in the house ready and prepared when you have a busy lifestyle could be a good decision, all you need to do is allocate a day per week or even month for bulk cooking and freezing.

Keep Moving

When thinking about developing a healthy lifestyle as a self-employed blogger, staying active should come to mind! You need to think about finding an activity that is going to keep you focused and motivated and the best way to increase your day-to-day physical activity is to include it in your everyday life. An easy way to do this could be by incorporating into your typical commutes.

It can be really easy to push exercise to one side when you have a busy lifestyle. However, by making time for you, you should be able to fit it in even if it is holding a walking meeting where you talk to clients on the move.
